I had my pancreas surgery on the 14th of March. I was doing so well after the operation that I was sent home the 16th. That was a good sign to only be in the hospital for two days.

The doctor told me they did not find anything serious or of a cancerous nature in the cyst he removed. The cells were related to the pancreas and were benign/not unusual. And his skills were such that he was able to remove the pancreas without taking the spleen or affecting any nearby organs or arteries.

I had a drain in my belly for two weeks after surgery that worked to remove additional blood and fluids. I saw the doctor this past Wednesday and he decided it was time to remove it. That was a bit unexpected as he started counting backward… “Ten… nine… EIGHT…” and with a hard yank he pulled it out. Boy, did THAT feel different!

Mom saw how well I was doing and decided there was no need for her to stick around any longer. So she headed home Thursday morning. She got in safely and is happy to be back home where she can do what she wants without worrying about her son.

So here I am. I’ve noticed I don’t eat as much as I used to and I get tired after an activity more than I expected. But otherwise I’m on the road to a full recovery.

It certainly is a meaningful Easter for me this year. Things could have turned out so much worse and I have a lot to be thankful for. I hope this Easter season is just as special for you this year as it is for me.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers. They really meant a lot to me during this past month. And thanks for stopping by and checking out the site. I hope to get back to writing soon as I do have some ideas buzzing through my head…
